Inside the zone, es un proyecto site-specific para la Térmica de l'espai d'arts Roca Umbert en Granollers, que aborda los espacios arquitectónicos industriales, en los cuales el artista influenciado por la obra y el universo del prestigioso cineasta Andrei Tarkovsky, aprovecha la atmósfera de uno de sus míticos films, “Stalker” (basado en la novela de los hermanos Strugatski; Pícnic junto al camino) y traza un recorrido de intervención del espacio, en el cual se adentra en su particular ZONA, para convertirse en un guía a través de espacios decadentes, que conforman un escenario no cotidiano en el cual la arquitectura consigue a través del declive una uniformidad sublime entre naturaleza y artificialidad. El artista como flanneur, mediante el lanzamiento de una rosca ligada a una cinta (tal como hace el protagonista del film), crea su propio camino e interviene el espacio con su presencia, para descubrir aquellos rincones por los cuales confluirá su recorrido.

El artista se adentra de nuevo en el mundo industrial, actúa como catalizador de la invasión de la naturaleza sobre los espacios urbanos, a través de paseos entre estructuras artificiales, espacios huérfanos de las ciudades que adquieren una categoría de espacio residual, espacios fantasmales en desuso que recogen en sí mismos, lugares de inmensa belleza. El artista por lo tanto modifica su realidad visual-sonora mientras realiza la acción del registro, como un acto de performatividad espacial a través de la dimensión arquitectónica y acaba por constituir un nuevo espacio residual, una nueva arquitectura visual y sonora, que nada tiene que ver con la concebida para el uso original del espacio.

 

A partir de los sonidos generados a través de la intervención de dichos espacios industriales, posteriormente el artista realizará durante el festival Panoràmic, un concierto de música electroacústica con dichos sonidos.

Inside the Zone is a site-specific project developed for La Tèrmica at Roca Umbert Arts Centre in Granollers. The work explores industrial architectural spaces through a perspective deeply influenced by the films and poetic universe of filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky. Drawing inspiration from Stalker (1979), based on the novel Roadside Picnic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, the artist constructs an intervention within the space that echoes the film’s mythical “Zone”: a mysterious territory where perception, memory, and reality become unstable and intertwined.

 

Entering this particular Zone, the artist assumes the role of a guide, leading viewers through decaying industrial environments that form an extraordinary landscape beyond everyday experience. Within these abandoned structures, architecture reaches a state where deterioration produces a sublime equilibrium between nature and artificiality. Vegetation, rust, concrete, silence, and ruin coexist, generating spaces suspended between past and future. Like the protagonist of Tarkovsky’s film, the artist navigates the site by throwing a metal nut attached to a ribbon, tracing an intuitive path through the environment. This performative gesture becomes both a method of exploration and an intervention, allowing the artist to discover hidden corners and latent narratives embedded within the architecture. Through movement and listening, the space is gradually transformed into a field of sensory investigation.

 

The project revisits the industrial landscape as a territory of transition, where abandoned urban structures become residual spaces charged with memory and unexpected beauty. Acting as a catalyst for the encounter between natural processes and human-made environments, the artist modifies the visual and sonic reality of the site through the act of recording itself. Documentation becomes performance, and performance becomes a tool for reimagining architecture beyond its original function. The sounds generated through these interventions form the basis of a subsequent electroacoustic composition presented during the Panoràmic Festival. In this final stage, the recorded traces of the industrial landscape are transformed into a live sonic experience, creating a new residual architecture composed not of walls and structures, but of sound, memory, and perception.
